The Taste and History of El Salvador that overwhelms you with TROPICAL FRUIT NOTES and an explosive warmth
A journey into the flavors and history of El Salvador, a tribute in every bottle.
In 2018, two friends and colleagues, Thurman Wise and Pepijn Janssens, were captivated by the beauty of ‘El Salvador’, a place that offers some of the best types of sugar and coffee in the world. It was in this rich and colorful land that the idea of creating Ron Colón came alive, a sincere tribute to the values of this wonderful region.
In 1892, the Salvadoran government decided to name its currency “Colón” in honor of Christopher Columbus. This currency represented El Salvador until 2001, when it was replaced by the US dollar. Ron Colón celebrates the history of El Salvador with references to the old “colónes” banknotes and coins on the labels, as well as a unique coin placed in the cap of each bottle, which can be extracted and collected.
The Colón brand boasts three extraordinary references: the classic Ron Salvadoreño, with its bold 55.5°, the Ron Colón Salvadoreño Coffee Infusion, a creation in its own right at 55.5° that uses bourbon coffee beans grown at 1700 meters above sea level in the El Ciprés region, near the famous Santa Ana volcano. Finally, the Ron Colón triptych is completed with Rum Rye Colón, a unique liquid that challenges conventions, while incorporating the best of the rum and rye whiskey’s worlds.
